The implementation of global and national control measures are the key to achieving the denormalisation of tobacco use in the population. Primary care, and paediatric practices in particular, need to conduct good quality interventions to inform, raise awareness, and protect children from the risks of environmental tobacco smoke (ETS) in their homes and prevent the initiation of tobacco use and new ways of consumption (electronic cigarettes, smokeless tobacco) among the youngest.
Dirección Xeral de Saúde Pública Galicia ##submission.copyrightStatement## http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-sa/4.0 http://rinsad.uca.es/ojs3/index.php/rinsad/article/view/38 Mon, 18 May 2020 11:02:33 +0000 Tabacco and Cannabis http://rinsad.uca.es/ojs3/index.php/rinsad/article/view/39
The inhalation route is the only current way of consuming both substances jointly, involving risks and damages inherent to the alveolar route and the high-speed of absorption of this route. Nicotine is the psychoactive compound present in the tobacco plant, responsible for creating addiction. Tetrahydrocannabinol is the cannabinoid compound with the greatest psychoactive capacity and the one that contributes most to the addictiveness of cannabis.

Both nicotine and tetrahydrocannabinol produce complex pharmacological effects on the central nervous system, cardiovascular system, respiratory system, etc. Tobacco addiction is possibly the most common unwanted effect affecting cannabis users.
Dirección Xeral de Saúde Pública Galicia ##submission.copyrightStatement## http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-sa/4.0 http://rinsad.uca.es/ojs3/index.php/rinsad/article/view/39 Mon, 18 May 2020 11:03:00 +0000
